Dead Ghosts : Live Tapes

Dead Ghosts : Live Tapes

"Dead Ghosts are a bunch of garage turkeys from Vancouver, British Columbia. After a few highly praised seven inches, they released a tape on Southpaw records called "Live Tapes". This is the vinyl version of the tape on clear vinyl. Nine songs, one sick Gories cover. Limited to three-hundred."

On Psychic Lunch & CMRTYZ Records.

Price: $15.00

Electric Bunnies : Pretty Joanna b/w I Swear I\'ll Never Let You Go

Electric Bunnies : Pretty Joanna b/w I Swear I'll Never Let You Go

"The Electric Bunnies have already come into their own releasing a string of singles and touring regularly. Late last year, Florida’s Dying dropped Through The Magical Door—a debut album hailed as the S.F. Sorrow of fuzzy sludge pop that topped just about everyone’s “best of” lists. Though it may be a little while longer before we get another full length, this single captures both the noisy and saccharine sweet sides of the band and should keep fans sated for now. “I Swear I’ll Never Let You Go” is a two-and-a-half-minute downer-pop gem, four harmonies and all. The A-side, “Pretty Joanna,” is virtually the opposite with a melody buried under layers of warm cascading fuzz and feedback."

On Sacred Bones.

Shannon And The Clams : Paddy\'s Birthday EP

Shannon And The Clams : Paddy's Birthday EP

"Shannon and the Clams remind me of something straight out of a John Waters movie in both their fashion and sound. On this brand new 7”, the Clams pump out two superb pop ballads and throw in a 30-second surf punk jam to clock in at just under 10 minutes. A great follow up to their amazing LP from last year."

Vex Ruffin And The Lofi Jerkheads : 4 Track EP

Vex Ruffin And The Lofi Jerkheads : 4 Track EP

"Vex Ruffin and the lo-fi Jerkheads is a one man unit armed only with a basic sampler, a smokin' stack o' wax ranging from early rhythm & blues to the cr?me de la cr?me of punk killers, an electric guitar and a mic. Imagine if Tipsy met The Spits and was severely underproduced, and what you get is a primo batch of lysergic slop ripe to be freaked at any good party."
On Black Gladiator Records

Tunnel Of Love : Rockin\' Rollin\' Bitches

Tunnel Of Love : Rockin' Rollin' Bitches

"this 14 track LP clocks in at a modest 25 minutes, yet delivers more devastating music than most bands' entire discographies. Tunnel of Love never practice, but every now and then they assemble in public, decked out in black and white striped tights and black cape! s, ripping apart punk clubs and leaving audiences stunned. This is truly the most bad-ass rock'n'roll band on earth. You can either get down or you can get out of their way."

Nerve City : Sleepwalker EP

Nerve City : Sleepwalker EP

"The 6-song Sleepwalker EP by Nerve City—the one-man home recording project out of Richmond, VA—is the next installment in the Sacred Bones 12-inch EP series. Awash in the whips and twangs of a spring loaded reverb tank and faint hints of a distant drum kit, Nerve City’s hook-driven songs recall the hard-charging down-strokes of the Velvet Underground’s more driving moments or, more recently, the psychedelia of West coast kindred spirits in Sic Alps and the Gris Gris. Over the past several years, the band has cemented a rep both live and on record. First came the Catholic School demo tape and the follow-up, Hell (both via Amateur Depression), then quickly sides on Severed Hand, Kill Shaman, HoZac, and Sweet Rot.s For the most part, those releases are now completely gone."

Lemon Dots : Girl In Motion EP

Lemon Dots : Girl In Motion EP

"Lemon Dots is hyperactive '60s girl-pop flailing in an undertow of magnetic hisses, squalls and squeals. Imagine The Maroons' "Out Tonight" clinging to an electric fence while being flayed by an out-of-control drum machine wielded by Lesley Gore."

Royal Headache : Eloise EP

Royal Headache : Eloise EP

"Sorry this one's taking so long but it's worth the wait. Four tracks a heap of you are probably already familiar with: Splash, Surprise, Eloise & Girls. Embraced by young punk sceptical of all things garage as well as those annoying old dudes that spend all their money of rare Easybeats records. Royal Headache's music will warm the heart of even the crustiest old scrooge."

Straight Arrows : Can't Count b/w Something Happens

"A split release with Juvenile Records aka Juvenile Society Records. A repress of 200 copies, RIP Society's 100 copies have the original cover, Juvenile Records 100 copies have a mushroom on the cover. Hand stamped and numbered labels in a very messy careless fashion. Definitely a highlights of Australian punk/garage over the last few years."

Spacemen 3 : Performance

Spacemen 3 : Performance

"Recorded in Amsterdam in 1988, the live Performance documents a set from the Perfect Prescription tour; the emphasis here is on the group's loud, noisy origins -- only the closing "Feel So Good" hints at the more subdued atmospheres and textures which emerged as Spacemen 3's primary focus as they approached Playing With Fire. Among the highlights: "Take Me to the Other Side," "Walkin' With Jesus" and "Come Together."

Nerve City : S/T

Nerve City : S/T

"Sweet Rot couldn’t be happier to present our first full-length release, the stunning debut LP by Nerve City. Subtitled “Recordings 2007-2008” this record showcases a dozen songs from the early days of this project from Richmond, Virginia. At the core, these are incredibly well written and played melodic songs with nods to the classics like the Stones and VU, but the note-perfect production that’s gone into each song adds an immense amount of haunting atmosphere and the final product is simply quite astounding. From minimalist folk songs, to full, lurching, droning epics this record contains absolutely no trace of filler and will stick with you immediately upon first listen. Perfect for these dark, dreary, cold days of winter. Previous releases on Hozac and Kill Shaman, and a 12” EP coming soon on Sacred Bones."

Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin : Reverse Shark Attack

Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin : Reverse Shark Attack

"Ty Segall (solo work, Sic Alps, Epsilons) and Mikal Cronin (Okie Dokie, Charlie and the Moonhearts) bust out a 10-track delight of psychedelic garage jams that is sure to please the most scrutinizing rocker. Equal parts danceable garage rock and effects-ridden psychedelia, “Reverse Shark Attack” is a mind-blowing explosion of loud guitars, pounding rhythms and signature vocal harmonies. Ty and Mikal balance perfectly between Soprano and Baritone vocals, making for an outstanding listening experience. The B-side is a single 10 minute Beatles-esque medley that starts off weird, gets mellow and folky, then explodes into a Ventures-induced headache of smashed drums and wildly vibrant surf guitars. Definitely a winner, and nothing like either of their projects have done before."
