RECENT HOT JAMS, REISSUE & NEW (12/1):
For now we'll give you just a few quick tips on hot new reissue
action, starting with the newest comp by the venerable Mississippi
Records out of Portland, OR. Yep, those are the folks who brought us Last
Kind Words, I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore, and
more recently the Lipa Kodiya City Council LP of sixties and
seventies African rarities. Their new collection, Life Is A
Problem. is all gospel ranging from pre-war to the
mid-seventies. LP comes with a bonus 7" by George Coleman doing
"This Old World Is In A Terrible Condition" from 1955. Lipa
Kodiya City Council is still available as well!
On the metal tip, the new OM and HIGH ON FIRE albums are
both heavily scorched blasts of morbidity and violence--highly
recommended, but you don't need me to tell you that. Ex-Sleep, yadda
yadda yadda...
Also exciting is the spate of new discs on long-dormant Siltbreeze
Records. Everything Tom Lax has released since the label's
resurrection has been golden--most recently we've had the Psychedelic
Horseshit Magic Flowers Droned LP in heavy rotation as well
as new records by Alasehir (Bardo Pond members), Ex-Cocaine (featuring
Ramirez of Universal Indians), Factums, Times New Viking,
XNo BBQX and perennial store-favorite Pink Reason.
Also anticipating a big pop-punk shipment sometime this week! Classic
titles from The Mr. T Experience, Screeching Weasel, The
Muffs and more! Edgy heaviness as well from The Fleshies, Triclops
and of course hipster favorites Pissed Jeans. Other titles, new
and old, in stock as well from Naked Raygun, Supercharger,
Clorox Girls, Toxic Reasons, Negativeland, Redd Kross,
Christian Death etc. Don't forget classics from labels like Crypt
